How we do it... Gill and the big awnings.
At James Robertshaw all our awnings and blinds are manufactured by hand at our HQ in Bolton. Thanks to some recent funding from Regional Growth Fund and Textile Growth Programme through Business Growth Hub, we have invested in a brand new machine, the only one of its kind in the UK, which enables us to make very large width awnings, in almost any type of fabric.
Our integrated heat welding and hot meld fabric machine glues together two pieces of fabric creating an invisible and completely weather proof seal. This means we can manufacture very large width awnings as single pieces, and it works fantastically well with for example the 18 metre wide awning cover we created for London 2012 Beach Volleyball at Horse Guards Parade.
We can create retractable roofs for any type of terrace, balcony or patio.
We’re proud our products are designed and manufactured here in the UK. Our workforce are all highly trained and skilled, and we’re building a series of promotional videos that show just what the team do in their day to day jobs.
We’re starting the series with Gill Hubber. Our Gill operates the gluing machine. See how she does it.
