Arts Bar & Grill occupies one of the most historic sites in beautiful Bowness-on-Windermere. It has built a fantastic reputation for serving great food and innovative, perfectly crafted drinks to tens of thousands of customers every year. Along with its sister venues, Cafe Riva and The Flying Pig, it is central to the hospitality culture of this beautiful Lake District tourist hub. But there are some challenges to being situated in such a picturesque and verdant landscape – the weather can be notoriously unpredictable!
In order to maximise the usage of their patio-style outside area, combined with planning regulation requirements, James Robertshaw specified a flexible solution based around their high-quality P-Series umbrella system. These were supplied with integrated LED lighting and infra-red heating to create a usable outside space for the Arts Bar & Grill all year round...
To enable the venue to continue trading, the working area is cordoned off to accommodate health and safety requirements Using ground insertion sleeves to install the umbrella and hide electrical cables, whilst maximising cover space and preventing any potential trip hazard. James Robertshaw completed all necessary ground works for the client. Both umbrella systems are installed and erected, heaters and LED lighting are tested and demonstrated to the client.
From initial concept and site meeting, through to installation and sign off, the project was completed within a four-week delivery. As well as fulfilling the brief of ‘functionality and durability’ the restaurant also gained an additional 25 x covers. When paired with cafe barriers, walkways, planters and furniture, these branded umbrellas turn uninviting areas into garden oasis’ day and night, no matter how unpredictable the weather.
James Robertshaw. We don’t just find the solution. We create it.
