AJ Bell Stadium, Salford
Client: AJ Bell Stadium
One of Salford and Manchester’s elite sporting venues since January 2012, the A.J. Bell Stadium is home to both Sale Sharks Rugby Union team and Salford Red Devils Rugby League team. State-of-the-art and with a capacity of 11,500, the stadium has also earned a reputation as one of the region’s top conference, event and business destinations.
While the dozen corporate boxes offer superb vantage points, perfect sight lines for the on pitch sporting action, the sheer size of their windows presented an ambiance problem. A lack of environmental control with excessive heat, light and glare that often made using the suites uncomfortable, especially during business meetings.
Something needed to be done. Something that involved top quality solar shading. After a recommendation through BNI, the referral networking group, Stadium Manager, Ruth Steenson contacted the James Robertshaw team to find out what they could do to help.
“We weren’t short of options when it came to providers,” says Ruth. “But it’s always good to have a professional recommendation”.
“James Robertshaw impressed me from the off. I liked dealing with people who are actually involved in the company, I looked at the work they‘d done elsewhere, the quality was excellent.”
Says Ruth, “They weren’t the cheapest but without doubt offered the best value. It’s true, you get what you pay for.”
So what exactly did the A.J. Bell Stadium pay for in the end?
No less than 37 JR R103 roller blinds across 12 hospitality boxes, one suite and the control room - specially developed solar shading that both cut out the glare and at the same time maintained the perfect view.
“A great investment,” says Ruth. “They work very well and even helped us win a piece of new business from a client who loved the venue but hated the glare.”
That’s a 12 month booking of the Willow Suite that when totalled up has actually paid for the complete installation of all the blinds.
How’s that for ROI? Blinds that pay for themselves.
Would Ruth recommend James Robertshaw? “Without doubt,” she says. “Not only has a professional company with a good quality product but you got the personal touch as well. The staff love the new blinds, they think they’ve been spoilt.”
And the love affair looks set to continue with the James Robertshaw team already drawing up plans for W-Series and A104: WingLine solar shading options for outside hospitality areas.
